The story behind the name. Amanar is the Tuareg word for Orion — the constellation ancient Saharan nomads used to navigate the desert at night. But the Tuareg weren’t alone in reading that sky. Hausa scholars knew Orion as al-Jawza’ through Arabic astronomy — the three stars of its belt marked the seasons for planting and harvest. Fulani pastoralists read the same stars to time their cattle migrations across the Sahel. From the Sahara to the savanna, Orion was the guide everyone looked up to. Now it guides the light in your room.
